three mountain lakes, the National Forest, more undeveloped land and more water than any other county in Colorado, and just about any mountain recreation opportunity that you can think of. One thing we can guarantee--being right in the middle of all of Grand County's activities, you'll never want to sit indoors, and you'll forget what it's like to be bored.
FISHING/ BOATING -
For premium catch and release fly-fishing, you'll never have to leave Edgewater. We have 1/2 mile of private Gold Medal fly-fishing on the Fraser River, access to miles more, our own onsite fly shop, and fly-tying stations. We also have four stocked trout ponds for your fishing enjoyment. For a change of pace, you'll also enjoy fishing, boating, and waterskiing on Lake Granby, Shadow Mountain Lake, and Grand Lake. Edgewater is a great staging area to fish all of the local rivers, including: the Platte, the Colorado, and the Yampa. Granby is sure to become Colorado's fly fishing paradise.
GOLFING -
There are four world-class golf courses surrounding Edgewater on all sides. Within one mile, you will find the Grand Elk Golf Course (877-389-9333), the Headwaters Golf Course at Granby Ranch / SolVista
(970-887-2709), and the Orvis Shorefox Golf Course which is currently under construction. Within 20 miles in either direction, you will find the Pole Creek Golf Course (970-887-9195) and the Grand Lake Golf Course (970-627-8328).
HORSEBACK RIDING -
Within fifteen minutes in any direction, you will find some of the finest dude ranches, guest ranches, and guided horseback riding trips in Colorado. Galloping with the wind in your hair and a backdrop of Colorado's majestic peaks, through some of the most beautifully undisturbed terrain, makes horseback riding in Grand County an unforgettable experience.
SKIING/ SNOWBOARDING -
Just 1 mile to the south of Edgewater is SolVista Ski Area at Granby Ranch (970-887-3384), a perfect family ski area. Colorado's favorite ski resort, Winter Park Ski Resort (970-726-5514), and Mary Jane, are only twenty miles away.
SNOWMOBILING -
Only 15 minutes away, you will find miles of groomed snowmobile trails in the quaint town of Grand Lake, where you can ride your snowmobile through the city streets to grab a bite to eat.
SNOWSHOEING/ CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING -
Edgewater's trail system is groomed for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing each winter, or for more extensive trails visit Snow Mountain Ranch or Devil's Thumb Ranch.
THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK - Enjoy the abundant wildlife in the RMNP as you hear the bugling elk, photograph moose in the willows, or catch site of a bald eagle, just minutes away, as you drive, hike, bike, or horseback ride through the forest, over spectacular Trail Ridge Road, into Estes Park for festivals, dining, and shopping.
